Since is the beginning of March 2024 it is time to march forward and why not look back at the happy successful events that took place last year 2023. It was a full year and when I say full it is an understatement! Pictures say more but why not tell a bit of the story behind it. When I participated for the first time in the Palm Beach open studios through the Palm Beach Cultural Council, Trashfashions and my one-of-a-kind designs took a leap and from there two of my pieces got selected to participate at the Elegant Threads, exhibit, and fundraiser fashion show. It was for me, as an artist and designer, a very important part of my career since before, I was always either modeling my own pieces or I was backstage prepping the models or both!! But not this time around. I got to sit in the front row and enjoy the show. One of my pieces was made of recycled rubber into the “Little Black Dress” super couture and elegant with a glimpse of sexy and let me tell you that just seeing the faces of the audience it was what made my night!! The model did a fantastic job showing it too! The other piece I presented I called it “Ancestral Crochet” made of a collection of pieces made by my mother that I put together creating a show of color and yes sort of hippy elegance. That piece got sold and went to a very nice house. Personally, I always feel a bit of nostalgia every time one of my designs leaves me but in art, as an artist learning to let go is fundamental. Moving forward. I got a message, an invitation to do a presentation and a trunk show at a prestigious place in Boca Raton. It was another new- to- me experience to get ready and do. In preparation I made a power point and got all my art ready for a show, tell and sell! It was my own surprise that the response from the group was just amazing, those ladies got a kick out of my stories and the presentation just flew in the most organic way. When you tell your own story and your own process it’s easy, it is true, and it flows naturally. They were all very happy to shop as well and they all want to have me and my Trashfashions back. At the same time that I work on my art and designs I started to work at the Norton Museum Of Art on a part-time basis. So, I feel very lucky to be surrounded by incredible pieces of art while I’m hosting a party every time I go to work, and with that … I’m always working either making art, selling art, or at the Museum… And now in March we keep on marching into more creativity. Making more with less, recycling and repeating Cheers!!!
